Email scanning
When you connect your Gmail account, JogMe requests read-only access. We never send, delete, or modify your emails.
We run 7 targeted search queries looking for renewal-related subjects only — things like MOT reminders, insurance renewals, and policy documents. From matching emails we extract:
- Dates (expiry dates, renewal dates, due dates)
- Vehicle registration numbers
- Document types (insurance, MOT, road tax, etc.)
We only look at email subjects and metadata. We do not read or store the full body of any email.
What we store
- Reminders — dates, labels, and reminder offsets you set
- Saved vehicles — registration numbers and associated MOT/tax expiry dates from DVLA
- Saved companies — company numbers and filing deadline dates from Companies House
- Document scans — encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored on our backend server
What we don't store
- Email content, email bodies, or full messages
- Passwords (authentication is handled by Firebase)
- Payment information (JogMe is free)
- Personal data beyond what is needed for reminders
Security
- Firebase Authentication — secure sign-in via email or Google
- Firestore security rules — every user can only access their own data
- AES-256-GCM encryption — all document scans are encrypted at rest on our server
- Gmail tokens stored server-side — with automatic refresh, never exposed to the client
- HTTPS everywhere — all communication between the app, backend, and third-party APIs is encrypted in transit

We built JogMe to solve a real problem — keeping track of the dozens of renewal dates that UK life throws at you. Here is what we promise:
- Read-only email access — we cannot send, delete, or change anything in your inbox
- No advertising and no data selling
- No third-party tracking or analytics
- We are open about exactly what we do and how we do it
- You can disconnect Gmail and delete all your data at any time
